AIMS AND SCOPE

Acta Koreana is a distinguished, peer-reviewed journal published in English by Academia Koreana of Keimyung University. Our primary aim is to foster intellectual discourse and facilitate the exchange of ideas, theories, and perspectives among those studying the Korean peoples, lands, cultures, and issues, broadly constructed. We achieve this by disseminating cutting-edge articles that encompass all subfields of Korean Studies.

Our journal primarily addresses the rich tapestry of Korean classical humanities, spanning literature, history, philosophy, art, and religion. We delve into this vast spectrum, ranging from ancient to postmodern eras, to shed light on the enduring legacy of Korean culture. In addition to our core focus, Acta Koreana also warmly welcomes research papers in the fields of sociology, anthropology, political science, and other scholarly traditions.

We welcome exploratory, innovative, and traditional methodologies to uncover new truths or confirm existing understandings through field studies, laboratory experiments, literature review, longitudinal or case studies, as well as quantitative analysis, replication studies, and other scholarly endeavors.

Multidisciplinary and non-conventional approaches which offer new perspectives on subjects are encouraged as well as essays that consider transnational perspectives and viewpoints from beyond Korea. We embrace these interdisciplinary frames of reference, recognizing their importance in comprehending the multifaceted aspects of Korean society and its global influence.

Moreover, we are enthusiastic about exploring the rapidly evolving landscape of global K-culture. Our journal is dedicated to shedding new light on this phenomenon, offering a platform for discussions and insights that have been less explored in the Korean Studies field.

Acta Koreana is committed to promoting academic excellence and advancing the understanding of Korea's rich cultural heritage, contemporary society, and its global connections. We invite scholars, researchers, and thinkers to contribute to our vibrant community and enrich the discourse on all facets of Korean Studies.
